“The retirement crisis is simply too big to ignore” (Harkin, 2012, p.1). “The experience of a crisis can become a source of transformative learning and growth” (Alhadeff et al., 2011, p. 394). The opportunities to learn dramatically, derive from the experience of crisis or disorientation. As the older population is growing, the role of transformative learning is to help older learners to adapt to change and prepare their post-retirement. However, there has been little discussion about transformative learning and retirement programs in adult learning fields so far. Notably, this study concluded that retirement programs will spur further research by introducing transformative learning, expanding the practical educational approach, and exploring issues related to retirement and limitations of education deeply.
